So I have this 97 speedster, both motors won't go over 4000 in forward but in reverse they go up to 6700. Sometimes the motors will act normal one time untill you release the throttle then it will only rev 4000 again...any ideas?

Not thinking so cause in neutral I can rev it and it hits the limiter...I guy was telling me maybe the oil sensor in the oil tank is bad and it sends it in limp mode

Oil sensor has noting to do with it. Could be the neutral switch, if pull it and check it with a meter, numerous times.

See if you can start it in forward. If you can the switch or wiring is the issue.

Checked the sensor and I was all working good...it would not start in any position other than neutral

I have the same issue with my 2 stroke speedster...some times running in reverse frees it up and it runs great for the rest of the day....last time out after an hour of revving great in reverse, and bogging down going forward I gave up.
I love the boat when she's running right, but this is sad...some people mentioned the oil thing, but why free up for the day once it breaks loose?
I thought it might need a new pump....
Still wondering...

So here's what I did...I replaced the good batter with a new one cleaned all the grounds I pulled out the fuel pick up ohm check that and it was good ohm checked the oil tank sensor it was good ohm checked the neutral switch and that was good opened up my electric box and the rectifier red wires has quick connects on then so I gave them a good tug put it all back together and didn't have a single problem all summer....idk what fixed it
