I am getting ready to replace my drive shaft protectors and understand that I will need to pull the driveshafts to do so. I was hoping someone could point out
any specialty tools or adhesives that I may want to get together before I tackle the job. Ideally I would like to have the job completed in a day and since I do not have a seadoo dealer close to me I want to be sure I have everything I need before beginning. Thanks in advance for any help!

If that boat runs well, pumps are sound and you have no cavitation issues or a better reason to pull the pumps off those shaft protectors are almost worthless in offering any real protection from ropes etc. they grenade themselves the instant anything get's in the pump grate and the end result is no different with them there or not.

95%+ of all the boats left running no longer have them on the shafts, few of them lasted more than their first season of use as floating sticks break them right away and the pump usually dices and passes them right through without you ever knowing it happened.

Our lake has a serious weed issue and despite avoiding them at all costs after an hour of use they were so wrapped up in the prop shafts that it took a half hour to rip them all loose. I assume having these protectors will stop them from getting wrapped up so bad?

Nope... they will still wrap around the protector. AND... once they crack... they become a source for air and cavitation.

As above... they were useless. Don't replace them.

Well that really sucks, I had hoped replacing those would address a serious issue. The shafts get so wrapped up with weeds that the motors cannot draw in water for cooling. This is after going over basically no visible weeds. I cannot believe more people aren't having these problems.... Do the shaft protectors not completely cover the shafts?

They do cover the entire shaft. But they get wrapped up as well. And once they crack they grab things and don't want to let them go.

Where I ride I would install them and rarely have an issue. But a weedy area is always prone to issues.

I guess I need to do a little soul searching before I tackle the job. The parts are on order and should be in at the end of the week. I will decide if I am going to install them right away or perhaps wait until something else needs replaced in there.... If I could dream up a better way to cut the weeds free while out on the lake it wouldn't be as bad.... It's always something haha

Trying to figure out how much I actually need to disassemble to replace the drive shaft protectors and seem to be finding conflicting information.... Help?

You have to pull the pump(s), and remove the driveshaft completely from the boat to change one the protector won't slide over the impeller end of the shaft due to the wider flange machined in the stainless that engages the impeller flange.

The BRP shop manual for your boat can be found if you Google for it, you will need it to reference the service procedures to change those and get it all back together properly your going to have to release the shaft from the pto and take apart the carbon seal components that seal the shaft and keep water out of the boat.
