I'm looking to make sense of the differences in Impeller Housings.
For a 97 Speedster it calls for a impeller housing part# 295500429. But when I look for one on ebay some say aluminium and some say brass even though they say that they are selling the 295500429 part.
Can anyone explain?
Thanks.

That was a very widely used part over numerous platforms and years, I would assume some came with aluminum veins and some with brass. The actual part numbers may have varied and/or been superseded over the years and the re-sellers may be slightly confused over the actual part number.

Thanks.
I found out some more info when I called a used PWC used parts outlet today.
The guy told me that the brass housings were the older ones. His opinion was that the brass was eliminated and redesigned to mostly plastic with aluminum inserts for two reasons(he didn't mention any full aluminum designs). Firstly, the redesign saved Seadoo money on manufacturing and secondly this made the plastic fins brake more which made you come back to the dealer for repairs. He opinion was the brass were just over-designed for the application. Which is great for the end user but not cost effective for the manufacturer.
He told me that if you were replacing one, go with the stronger brass. But, he says, get one that was used in freshwater which are usually in better condition.
Now I don't know if that's the full story. I'm wondering if there is any maintainace issues with brass over plastic. I would think that the PWC guys would be able to answer this better since I think the brass design started there first.
Thanks.
