97 speedster dies when throttling down.

I have a 97 speedster drives fine on take off and full throttle but when I throttle down one engine dies and has a hard time starting back up have to play with throttle to get it to start. Replaced the carb , switched it to reserve tank, changed fuel lines when I replaced the carb, orignal carb did the same thing. Runs great wide open , but as soon as I dial it down it dies. The other engine is fine. Any ideas??? Thanks

I put the new carb on was supposed to be set. It starts and runs fine, takes off but when I back it down to stop it dies unless i feather the throttle to keep it from dying.

Is your idle set correctly?
A leaking needle and seat will cause this also as it will flood.

The idle can’t be preset. You have to adjust it yourself.

The low speed and high speed screws can be set, the idle is a different screw that actually holds the throttle plate open.

I actually turned up the idle thinking that might work, it didnt. Could it be a spark issue? I have no clue. Or maybe miss setting of the cable when i hooked itback up? Thanks for the response. Hope to get this fixed and actuallynot worry about itthis year.

I adjusted the t handled screw believe idle

If you are sure it’s the idle screw crank it more. 3,000 rpm out of the water should drop to the correct 1,500 in the water.

Ok thats the one i turned called it the t handled one turn and a half, ill see where its at when i get it in the water im in illinois. Thanks again for the help ill let you know if that fixes it.

Hey man hows it going so i got the boat in and the idle was at 2000rpm in water i adjusted it down to 1500 went out ran great but still had the same issue with the one motor dying after dialing the throttle to idle after racing around the lake, any other ideas?? The one motor works perfect dials down to a idle and stays running. I appreciate any help.
