97 seadoo gsx timing problems?

I thought I had flooding problems and couldn't get it to start at all.
carborators looks good.
I replace the stater or magneto that's on the front of the engine. ( pain in the butt)
It started right up...... but now it keeps back firing and seems to be running on one cylinder. I can't get it to rev up like normal. running really really rough.
It keeps coughing and spitting. kinda like maybe it's out of timeing, if there is such a thing on this model.
Any ideas from anyone???
Would appreciate any help.
thanx

did you replace the stator plate the one behind the mag with the wires on it if you did you can get it out of timing let us know

:agree: It must have spun while you were in there and thrown the timing off.

I replaced the round thing with all the magnets on it.It's stationary and screwed in onto that front plate where the wires plug into. I think there is only one way it can go on. If it's the timing is off, what is the best way to retime it?
