Hi,

New to forum but would appreciate any help. Seadoo runs ok for 5 minutes then bogs out. Checked compression and found 150lbs on one cylinder and 130lbs on mag cylinder. Also noticed cylinder head looks heated on mag side. The rave valve on mag side i found piston melted and spring broken. I know i will need to repair topend with kit but not sure if crank will also need to be looked at. Seadoo has 49 hours on engine and just wondering if there is a way of diagnosing a bad crank or can i get away with new cylinder and piston?

You can get a better sense of the crank's condition once you get the cylinders off the engine. You gotta go in there anyway. Start tearing down the top end so you can get a better look/feel.

Thanks for the reply. Any idea where to get good quality parts? I live in Canada and the bombardier dealer parts seem really expensive.

SeadooWarehouse dot com.....!

We have a wide variety of parts right here in the forum. You can check out our link on the top right hand side of the screen or follow this link. http://www.seadoowarehouse.com/

:agree: with JPX. You'll get a better idea of how far the damage goes down, when you expose the bad cylinder. Once it's all removed, you can turn the crank by hand at the PTO shaft and feel if there is any resistance, clicking, grinding or any other thing you may feel by hand, that isn't perfectly smooth.......
