I'm new to the whole winterizing thing down south where I used to live we didn't have to worry about this but I was wondering what's the easiest way to winterize the motive in the Speedster and what coolant should I use
can someone help me with pictures of what hoses to pinch off to run anti freeze through. i put a gallon through it was leaking out the intake grate and nothing came out of tubed pipe hose
the one that sez fresh water enters engine head to prevent detonation. You might also need to pinch the outlet if you are filling through the one that is normaly capped off. I have not done mine yet but I will take the cap off the flush connector and put it on the outlet on the transom when i fill it up. Not sure if it says to in the manual or not but I will also fire up the engines to blow excess out the exhaust.
Its basicly the same. It leaks out the jet pump because when the engine is running (in the water) that is where the cooling water comes from. So you are basicly filling the cooling system in reverse, same as flushing on the hose, and on the 787 you are supposed to pinch that hose off when flushing any way.
the shop manual has a step by step with pictures of what hoses need blocking off. there is a step where you take one of them off and add a bit more anti freeze so the muffler gets some too. its worth taking a look. I don't have that one myself but I am sure its available. or even the challenger ones would be the same.
anyway, the most important part is to make sure you see the green (my antifreeze was green just assuming they all are) come out into the clear hose out the bottom / back of the engine. that is the only way to tell it did the "whole loop". the first year I did mine it didn't come out because I had a blockage in the cooling loop. it took forever to clear it out. I am just assuming that it was holding all the water in the engine. could have ended badly
edit: I have the 98 challenger manual same engines. PM me if interested
