Hey everyone (I apologize for the long post),
Let me start this post by saying that I recently had the lower half of the left engine rebuilt, and I have installed a new startor, magneto and did a drive line rebuild also on the left engine. I took the boat out yesterday and the engines started just fine on the trailer before I put it in. I got the boat in the water and had to choke both engines a little to get them going but they both started and idled well. As soon as I started to push the throttles up the left engine bogged out just around 2500-3000 rpms. I restarted it and pushed the throttle quickly through that ranged and was able to plane out and ran at about 5000-6000 rpms great. I stopped to come up to a spot where we wanted to anchor about 10 minutes later and when I dropped the engines to idle (still with drive lever in forward) both engines quit. The right engine started right back up but the left engine would just crank. After sitting for about a half hour we decided to try to run up the river a little bit. The right engine started right up again but the left engine would not start, just crank. I finally got the left engine started after idling on the right engine for about 15 minutes. It required me to hold the starter button for about 45 seconds to a minute and the RPMs eventually started coming up and then the engine cranked over. After that the engine ran pretty well for a while and then we were cruising at about 4500 rpms and the left engine just shut down. I hit the start/stop button and it started right back up and we continued back to the boat launch. I have had the carbs rebuilt on both engines within the past year and last year I didn't even log more than 3 hours on the boat due to the left engine rebuild. Does anyone have any ideas on what the issue may be? I haven't looked at the MPEM yet but I read the sticky in the forum and might run through that troubleshooting checklist.
Thanks in advance!
Matt
