Hey all,
I am new to this forum and have been reading for the last couple weeks and have found some of the most useful information i have ever found about my machines in the 5 years i have ridden. Kudos to everyone helping out, I find in my area there isnt many riders in turn meaning not much help for problems.

My Problem: In my 97 GS my fuel guage has not worked for the past couple years, annoying but not worth the price of the sender to fix, I am going to attempt the fix posted on the board after i get the sender out but what is the easiest way to get the sender out of tank?

Thanks, Ryan

GS hull is a pain to pull the baffle from the fuel tank. You either need to remove the steering assembly on top (there is a hole there) to draw out the baffle or slide the fuel tank (after weasling the oil tank out of the way) just enough to draw out the baffle.

Everything after that is super easy. Remember that the baffle is as long as the tank is deep......so you need to be able to get a clear shot above the hole to remove it.

Thanks,
So if i pull the steering out is it a straight pull out from there or do i have to loosen the tank to get it out after that?

Thanks, Ryan

You'll probably still have to dink around with the fuel tank to line it up just right.

I found this fascinating webpage on someone sectioning a GS class hull (GS/GSX). It really helps visualize the location of everything in the hull! And you can see why the tank just does not come out without removing either the engine......or the top half of the hull.
