The impeller on my 97 seadoo challenger single moter is damaged and I dont know how to change it out. I did look at the shop manual and I am having a hard time following it. Just a quick overview is what im looking for and a list of tools I may need. thanks.......

G'day josh,
The easiest way is to purchase an impeller removal tool,
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/JET-SKI-Kawasaki-Seadoo-IMPELLER-TOOL-most-new_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ56422QQihZ006QQitemZ160242966803QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
I have heard someone say they use a block of wood and hammer to hit the impeller around but this can damage it.
Then once you have the tool remove pump off boat, remove cone off pump(be careful with cone, has gear oil inside) hold impeller shaft in vice, fit impeller tool too impeller and turn counter clockwise :confused:to remove, it will be hard as they use locktight on the threads
When you put new one on, make sure you don't pinch the thrust washer when you tighten.

Pinch the thrust washer?

my impeller is stuck after some repairs that required the removal of the driveshaft and pump, i removed the pump housing again, the needle bearings and thrust bearing were fine, if you "pinch" the thrust washer will it cause the impeller to bind up? and if so how do you avoid doing that? is there a specific torque setting for the bolt I've looked all over the net and couldn't find it. Any help or available diagrams that you know of would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

never mind that was the problem, alls i did was re-assemble the pump vertically and it worked fine with about 1/8" play horizontally, and no play vertically and she runs great can't wait to hit the water.
