I'm trying to figure out why my gtx is getting way to much oil in the motor.. I pulled the plugs out and when I turn the motor over it shoots the premix oil everywhere. what cause's this. My buddy said to block off the oil line. and just premix.. thanks for the help..

Check the cable to the oil pump, make sure it aint stuck, or arm stuck open.
you can go premix, block off the line, that goes to the pump, or install blockoff plate, but you still need the oil to the crankcase, keeping the lines from the resivoir, or bypassing the resivoir using those same two lines, tied together, but use injector oil only for the casing...

i think what you are looking at is seepage past the center crank seals.the rotary valve cavity between cylinders is full of the same injection oil. it has had all winter to leak out. fire it up, let it smoke. make sure it isn't going to go into your neighbors windows. it will smoke a LOT for 5 to 10 minutes. if it is still smoking after a half hour you have a problem. but it won't and you won't.

gtx

ok.. so if I block off the line to the oil pump, I can leave the second oil line that runs to the crank? and if I go premix on the gas, do I need to run the same oil?
thanks.. Bildozer..

:agree: I agree. you can try and spinn engine over for a few seconds at a time [so that you do not burn up the starter] with the spark plugs out. This may get rid of enough oil for it to start. Then replace the spark plus as they may be fould with oil and will not allow engine to start. Once you get it started it is going to smoke like you have never seen before. After it clears up replace spark plugs again. keep starting it at least every 2 weeks or you may continue to have the engine locking up. If it is to bad this will not work good luck Robin

Cant use same oil, that is used for the crankcase, crankcase will use injection, gas you'll use premix oil. The bottles will be labeled.
On the other hand, think'n Derek may be on to something..I'm speculating here, but if oil can be ingested into the cylinders, then maybe a compression test might give sum direction....keep the plugs out..

Here is what the problem is. The Rotary Valve Gear Shaft is in the cases between the cylinders. On each side of the chamber is a oil seal to keep out the oil from the gear shaft. The oil injector tank feeds the Rotary Valve Gear Shaft to keep it lubricated. It feeds under the carburetors. On the other side of the engine is the return vent hose going back to the same injector tank. What has happened is that the seals are seeping oil from the Rotary Valve Gear Shaft Chamber into the cylinders. If you block off the oil injector you not helping the problem because it is still seeping into the cylinders from the bad seals. It might be a temporary thing, and you might get a season out of it, but it will only get worse and cause hard starting. Eventually it will just keep fouling spark plugs and not start. The cure is; 1) pull the engine and split the cases and rebuild the crank and replace the seals. 2) go to a company like " www.sbtontheweb.com " and get a core replacement. It might be cheaper in the long run to get a replacement core and quicker. The cost is going to be under $1000.00, but you need to check out the web sie to see exactly what you need to get the job done. This isn't the first time I have heard of this problem. I hope this information helps you decide what to do.

after I turned the motor over a few time's and put the plugs back in I was able to get it started.. at a idle it seams to be running fine and when I rev it up it sounds fine. a friend of mine gave me this gtx cause he doesnt ride it and isn't the most mechanically inclined. I know it was sitting for a year or so..

-where's the best place to find the attachment for a water hose? so I can run it longer...
thanks for the help...

you got 2 spigots off your motor, accord'n to diagram, believe you want to tap into the hose on the right side, if facing the back of motor. Think, if hooked to other side, cause to much pressure for regulator valve...

A lake or river would be a good place to start. Do not go far from shore untill you know it is reliable. Even on the hose you should not run it long because pump and seal are cooled by water which the hose will not cool. good luck

97. the water hose inlet is next to the jet pump, outside the hull under the back. you need an adaptor which is much like an air hose chuck to snap on and hook the hose to. these 787 motors have a rep for losing the seals in the crank, but yours has been sitting for a year and change. that is a long time to weep oil. if the seals are bad, you will get a goodly cloud of oil first start-up of each weekend for a minute or two. they rarely go so badly that they pour oil in.
