I have a pair of 97 GTX's and both let me down on the same day. The problem i am having with one is an alarm that is constant. It starts as soon as the lanyard is connected. When i try to start the ski, the alarm will sometimes stop but starts again when I hit the start button. When the ski is running, the alarm is constant. I was advised to check the temp sending unit. I changed the sending unit with the unit from the other ski with no change. I've looked for other sensors and sending units but have found nothing. What can I check next?

It sounds like it is over heating... the sensor is doing it's job more than likely. Is the exhaust and the cylinder hot to touch? Check you cooling lines. Is the water coming out the "Tell Tail"? if not that is a sure sign it is over heating also.

Keep us posted.

Karl, thanks for the input, I guess i was not clear in the fact that the ski has not been running for a couple of days, and is a fresh start with water running. The alarm begins as soon as I connect the lanyard and never stops when the engine starts running. The engine doesn't run long enough to get warm. That is why I feel it is either a faulty sensor or an alarm that I can not recognize from lack of knowledge.

Ok, here is a way to test the Temp Sensor on the cylinder head. Use a multi meter to see it it has continuity. It should be open when you test it cold. now set in a pan of water and bring it up to about 200 degreesF*. Being careful not to get burned, check for continuity again. It should be a closed circuit at that temp. Most temp sensors will close the circuit at 200- 210 degreeF*. If the sensor checks ok it must be the wire going to the sensor.
A quick way to see if its in the wire, is unplug the wire at the sensor and start it up. If it still beeps its in the wire. The sensor makes a ground connection at temp, and causes the sensor to ground the wire which makes the beeper beep.

I hope this helps.
