I bought a 97 GTI project a month ago, supposedly with a bad MPEM and a good engine, turns out MPEM is fine (just a blown fuse) but the engine wasn't. Anyway, I rebuilt the engine, runs like a top.
The previous owner had plans to paint it and stripped most of the parts off of the hull, then apparently misplaced the rear bumpers and rub rails. I can't put it in the water to test the engine since there are empty rivet holes all along it, so I'm kinda at a standstill.
The issue I'm having is that I can only seem to find the rubber inserts for sale, not the rub rails themselves. There is not even a part number for them in the parts diagram. Anyone know of an aftermarket solution that would work, or maybe have a set off a parts machine they would sell?
