Just acquired a '97 GTI. Troubleshooting lack of reverse, I see that the cable has a bend (about 45 degrees) at the lever end. Though it seems to get full travel, the new cables I've seen online show no bends.
The way this is built, it would seem the shift lever mechanism would break before it would bend that cable end, but what do I know?
Any guidance appreciated.
