I bought this damn thing in june and have had one problem after another. I now have a repeated problem and Im not sure what is the problem. My stator assembly lost a bolt and tore up the flywheel first, then I had a friend who works on these things come over and help install a new one, but he didnt put enough locktite on and the assembly screws came out a messed up everything again. So I did it myself this time and everything was looking good I started it up and not even 10 seconds later it stopped running!!! Could it be another stator Problem!!! Is there a tool to check clearance on the magnets, and flyweel? Or could the shaft be bent?? Any input would be great,I dont know what to do from here!!!!!!

Thanks

Sorry... there isn't an easy way to check. but, if the flywheel was hitting... you would know while you were assembling it.

Its just crazy because I was spinning it when I installed it and it didnt feel like it was rubbing, or sound like it.

Well I pulled the cover and it chewed up the stator assembly again. How can I check to make sure the crank is true? or could the crank seal be bad and cause this?

Thanks.

You are having a very un-common problem.

I would put the flywheel in a lath, or something else that can spin it, to make sure there isn't a wobble in it. While it's off... grab the crankshaft, and see if you can move it up and down. (looking for a bad bearing)

Are the bots still coming out? OR... is it a different problem with the stator getting chewed up?

The bolts didnt come out and the stator assembly was all busted up. Now I dont know if its because I am useing an assembly thats aftermarket and not from a dealer. I bought the assembly from the same place both times. I was also wondering how long should the key on the shaft be? I work on alot of electric motors and the keys on those shafts are about an inch long, and the one one the crankshaft for the ski is only about a quarter of an inch.

Hey I would get yourself a different flywheel...I bet the ring gear has moved and is wobbling.

Your crank might be off too, or a bearing coming apart. I've seen it happen. It runs but the crank wobbles and shorys out the stator.

I have a few good stators, and I think I have some flywheels. (used) if you need them.

I would need the whole stator assembly, plate, stator, and pickup. Its for a 717 engine. How much would you sell them for?
Thanks for all of your help guys, it was a real bummer for my kids last year, we have never had a ski or boat before and this ski has never ran for us.
