Hi, i have a 97 GTI and i put a new rebuilt motor in this weekend. After hours of installing i finally hooked up the battery ot hopefully hear the BEEPBEEP. And nothing so i troubleshoot and it says check 5 amp fuse so i check it nad its blown, i then replace it and instantly its blown. So now im sitting here with a perfectly good ski and a brand new motor and have no idea why i am blowing fuses and not gettin BEEPBEEP. PLZ HELP.

5 amp fuse....

Do a search in the members list for a guy who calls himself " ALL THINGS CUSTOM " he knows about the 5 amp fuse you are talking about and what to do about it.

Yes. I took it out today and it ran very well i started breaking it in. But there is one thing i am wondering about, for the oil injection i dont know if my oil is really flowing and if its in the motor i did put oil in the fuel tank like the professional said to for the first tank for break in, anybody have any ideas.

a quik check is to keep an eye on the oil level in your tank. you should be able to see it drop. keep mixing the gas 40 to 1 with oil until you are sure it is injecting. worst thing that will happen is fouled plugs and smoke.

Oil injection?

Was there not oil in your injection tank when you bought it? That injection pump should have been primed by the mechanics after they put it together. You still have to run the additional oil for break-in as Derek has pointed out. And too, like he said, make a mark on the side of your injection tank with a Sharpie or something, while it's in the drive way, with a block under the tongue or something to allow you the exact height when you bring it back to check it. The position of your ski on the trailer or in the water is may give you different results if you don't have a "constant".

MPEM bad

:(I did the same thing, new engine and the 5 amp and 7.5 fuses blow but the battery is installed correctly. I think the MPEM is bad, I contacted Mike to see if he can help.

Riverfurm...B-4 rip'n out MPEM, i've read in other post...1st, disconnect 2 yellow wires at the rectifier, if she still blows, then disconnect the red wire from rectifier, if still blows, then its MP board,
If one or the other solutions make the fuse don't pop, then its a stator or rectifier issue.
If its the MPEM board, don't hesitate tosend to MIke, got mine back, circuit worked PERFECT.

I have a 95 gtx keeps blowing the fuses instantly too I have replaced the recitfier and will try disconnecting the yellow and red wires tomorrow.
so if that fixes it it's my stator correct? and if it doesn't it's my mpem thing you metnioned something aboiut mike fixing that could you expound
Thanks
