I bought a 97 gsx that wouldn't crank Engine was clean and looked good from outside. I got it back to my shop and found water in rear electrical box. I cleaned out water and rust then tested with new battery. Will crank when jumpung starter and had no spark so replaced starter solinoid and CDI. Now it cranks and has spark. It sat for 3 years, so i drained the fuel and oil there was no fuel in filter so I just hoped there was no fuel in carbs. I put new hi test in tank after putting carb cleaner through lines and cranking. I get fuel to engine but won't start.
The original issue for the prior owner was it was running fine on his last use then next time went to water cranked and no start just like I have now.

It does have the grey lines and the high temp light is flashing on dash. Would a bad temp sending unit prevent it from starting if it thinks it is hot?

try disconnecting the temp sender and see if it starts. it is ontop of the engine next to the spark plugs

replace the gray fuel lines before cleaning the carbs or you will just have to clean them again.

OK i cleaned carbs seemed OK then replaced fuel lines and the engine cranks but seizes up and wont crank after a minute. Pulled plugs and a geyser of fuel and oil spit out cranked OK. I think the second carb is just dumping fuel. Will try rebuilding and see where I am. To all other new comers don't waste time cleaning just spend the $100 on rebuild kits and do it right the first time.

ok rebuilt carbs and started great then put water to it and started in half a crank. Starts and runs great only issue is after running in the water it seems I am fouling plug or some thing I have to full throttle to start and it putters till it clears out and is fine. How would you check and adjust the oil injection the exhaust seems a little thick with smoke. How do you know if you have the right mixture with the adjustable oil injection system.
