I have my in-laws sea-doo here at the house to try and fix for them and don't know very much about them.I am mechaniclly inclined however, just not in watercraft. All the fuses are good and I can jump the starter relay and it will crank over, but I have no gauge functions or no beeps when I plug in the lanard.I have tried a different key and a different mpem w/ no luck, same ol same ol,nothing...Please give me some help if you can, would this be a bad safety switch? Where is the pwc god when you need him/her?

Hi
I had that that problem too and i fix it cleaning all the plugs an connection of the stator, under the steering too. here we ride in salt water and those problem are very often. You should do all these inspection. But there's wan fuse that you might not check yet. Near the VTS or the battery theres a black box whit a fuse verified it too.
:coolgleam:

Advanced diagnostics?....

Did you try the advanced diagnostics?........It sounds like your post may be bad..

With the lanyard off, push the start/stop button 5 times till you hear one long, one short beep. Then, put the lanyard on the post. Push the start/stop button. Again......at any time you get beeps, count them and repost.

The MPEM (multi purpose electronic module) has a DESS (digital electronic security system) which is a safety feature to keep the ski/boat from being stolen.

The lanyard has a ROM (read only memory) chip embedded in it. The post is a magnetic communicator for the lanyard cap and the mpem to communicate. If that post is no longer capable of having the magnetic attraction to read the ROM chip, its time to replace it. You can do this without reprogramming the mpem......

Hey snoop, already tried that and got no beeps. Now what? I have read some of the other trouble shooting post and am still lost. Please help me!!!! lol

with no function at all, could be a bad/dirty post or landyard. Have they replaced the landyard, but not had it programmed? With other ski, you grabbed the mpem from, use that post. Wouldnt worry about the "beeping" right now, ski/boat still run, even when those go bad.

Sorry I don't have another post to try,but even w/ another lanyard or the wrong one should still beep.Any ideas on why when I push the start/stop button 5 times I get no gauge or instrument movement? This thing really has me puzzled!! Anybody have anything else to check?

Testing the post...

Then, testing the post is the next step. It's not unusual for you to not get any power. That's usually a sign the MPEM is bad. But even then, there is a series of beeps in the advanced mode to point it out.

Have you checked your ground wire? From your description, it seems like you have a power supply problem. You can take a test probe and try a couple hot spots at the mpem, where the fuses are to see if it's getting power.

Also, take a look at this thread. Kustomkarl did a layout from the manual on testing the post. I hope you get it figured out. I know electrical problems cause you to pull hair. I got a lot less hair now then I did 20 years ago:rofl:

Installed a new dess post tonite, still nothing.Don't know what should have power at the mpem and what shouldn't.Anybody out there help me w/ where to get thet info?I hate to have to take this to the dealer,it's got to be something I'm missing.

i have to "jiggle" the center connector on my computer (mm??). should have 3 connectors. the center controls the lanyard/post stuff i guess. i jiggle the connector with the key on the post. i get a short beep like it is the wrong key. used to get 2 beeps last summer, now none. but she fires up. might just be mine. did the new computer come with a new lanyard? the wrong lanyard should give u a wrong beep.
