Hi everyone, new to the forum. Have a 97 GSX that I have owned since new. It has 61 hours on it and has not been used for several years. Today I installed a new battery and it started right up, however it's idling at 3400 rpm when on the hose still on the trailer. My thought was bad gas - not sure if it had Stabil in it or not it's been so long. Would appreciate any ideas. Thanks!!!

3400 is not too bad on the trailer for a machine that hasn't run for awhile, it should be around 3000 out of water, it will go down to around 1500-1600 when in the water. I would leave it alone and put it in the water and see where you are at then.

Update....last week siphoned remaining fuel from tank, added a bottle of
Chevron Techron and fresh gas. Ran on the hose for 30 mins, idle came down to 2700 rpm. Topped off tank, ran it today on the lake and it ran great!!! Idle was 1500 in the water. Only issue now is fuel gauge not registering and digital speed not registering. Analog speedo working fine.

Next step from reading the forums is to replace the gray fuel lines. Don't believe I'm clogged up yet cause the GSX is running great. Can anyone confirm I'll need about 25' of 1/4 fuel line and around 22 stainless clamps? There are many posts about this subject and they all vary some.
