Okay I have the motor on the bench still assembled and I need to take the drive shaft PTO off. I have the proper socket with the spline on to fit inside like the drive shaft does. My question does anyone have a good method to hold the crankshaft from spinning while I try to loosen the PTO? Also is this a right hand thread? Thanks.

lefty loosey!!!! first get a rope and coil it in the sparkplug hole, about 12 inches or so, then take a torch small propane type and heat the PTO, grab a 3/8's ratchet and about a 4 foot pipe that will slide over it, slowly turn it till you feel the rope catch the piston then with a SWIFT stroke push down on the bar. it will pop right off. without harming anything!

any other way ive found you are looking for trouble....

Yes putting the rope down the cylinder worked well I also had to bold the motor plate down to the bench though to hold it in place lol. But after heating it and using the handle to car jack over the breaker bar I finally got it off. Thanks for the advice!
