My Engine has a bit of play as it's mounted in the hull.

Not forward and back movement just side-side movement of ~ 1/4 Inch.

The Plate is secured to the 4 Mounts on the Hull, it doesn't move at all.

It looks like there are 4 studs attached to the bottom of the motor that
secure thru the Engine Support and nuts that tighten from the underside.

Is it possible to tighten the nuts without removing the bolts from the Engine Support?

Thanks in Advance,

No all Seadoo's bolt the mount to the hull with 2 bolts then 1 bolt through the engine into the mount. No nuts. They are rubber mounted so there should be a little movement.

My issue seems to be worse than I thought.

The side-side movement of the engine has caused the flywheel to rub away part of the flywheel guard.

See the diagram from my the parts manual and the 717. It looks like 4 studs from the motor with nuts/washers from under the mount plate.

Can I tighten these one side at a time without lifting the whole motor out of the hull?

Was hoping to avoid engine removal. That would require jet pump/exhaust/airbox removal.

A loose engine is typically caused by broken engine mounts, #16 on the above drawing and not loose bed plate nuts.

If I recall, there was a bulletin on the 97 XP (not sure if it included other 97 models) where the studs were too short and would come loose. This was for the mounts not the bed plate. I remember this because back then, mine came loose for this reason. I was still servicing mine through the dealer and they fixed free of charge.

97 XP is a 787 and doesn't have a bed plate. But good catch on too short of bolts.

Wanted to give everyone an update on this.

I removed the Exhaust and intake.

I removed the 4 bolts that fasten into the Hull.

Careful removed the shims noting which mount they came from.

lifted the whole motor up 2 inches and blocked it up.

All four of the nuts that fasten the motor to the plate were loose.

I applied a little loctite 242 to the threads and torqued each nut to 26 lb-ft.

Another interesting thing I found was that the 4 bolts that secure the mount plate to the hull were 1/2", not sure why.

So far these are the only non-metric bolts I have found.

Loctite 242 on these 4 bolts to 18 lb-ft per the shop manual.

Put it all back together and no more movement whatsover.

Taking out on the water tomorrow to test it out.
