Few days ago, went to the marina and boat would not start, accessories wouldn't work, etc. Pulled the battery took it to have it tested, bad battery. Got new battery, put it in, now it blows the 5 amp fuse every time I make the connections to the battery terminal. Does this really sound like my MPEM board? If so, how the heck could it have went bad just from having a dead battery and replacing with a new one? In no way am I extremely mechanically inclined, but I can do basic stuff. What would you suggest? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jason

hey alex...
Disconnect the red wire and yellow wires from rectifier, if the fuse still pops, then contact "Mike" at...allthingscustom, on this site, or ebay under mpem repair.
Yah, it'll give no warning, they just start pop'n, but that company is great. You'll have board back, work'n great, in no time...

sorry for the ignorance but where is the rectifier and what does it look like? I see two 2"x2" squares in the MPEM panel with three yellow and one red wire attached, is that the rectifier's? Should there be two since I have two engines? If so, just unplug the inline connections?

Alright, after tinkering with the MPEM and checking out all of the connections and taking pictures and whatnot so I can put it back together, I can't seem to figure out how to get the main wiring harness (the one coming into the Gray MPEM housing with the crap ton of wires) removed. I'm afraid of pulling too hard and making more of a problem. Can someone let me know if it just pulls away or do I seriously need to cut all of the wires and splice them back to gether again (please say no!). Contacted Mike to get it sent out and fixed but can't get the thing out! It's getting a little frustrating, any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Do not cut the wires!! The gray plug will just unplug with a little loosening of the locking nut, and pull it apart in 1 piece. If you look at the inside of plug after it is apart, you will see a large pin to align up and the plug only fits one way to connect the wires properly. Take your time and be patience. That harness is expensive to replace.

Anyone ever had a problem with All Things Custom? I sent out my MPEM over a week ago USPS Priority, got confirmation that it was delivered, but haven't heard a word back from him. I've sent 3 or 4 emails to try to get status but haven't heard back. Just wondering if this is normal operating for him or if I should be worried!

Thanks!

nah...Mike rocks, only one I know of, that fixes these things, so gets'm sent from all over world....give a few more days...

OK so it has been over two weeks now since I sent the MPEM out, have sent multiple emails with no repsonse and also noticed that his repair service on ebay is no longer up. I'm all about giving someone the benefit of the doubt here but I'm pretty concerned since I haven't heard a peep back from him. Anyone have his number? Or has anyone gotten a repair from him in the last few weeks? I'm pretty bummed about this, especially if I need to buy a brand new MPEM.....

Avatar?

Did you look in his avatar in his profile? His phone number is in it. This time of year, I'm sure he's all backed up with winterizing......

Number in his avatar is not in service and that is the only one I can locate. Also the address he had me ship to was in CA not AZ like his avatar. The reason I'm concerned is that there is no more advertisement on ebay, no returned emails/PM's and I recall previous threads saying about a day turn around. Now, if he's busy I truly understand but a response to what is going on is all I need.

Thanks for the update!....

Thanks for the update!.....He used to be in the forum quite a bit but I haven't seen him in quite some time. How did you get in touch with him the first time?....
I'm going to block his profile until you get some resolve. Please PM me or write to Seadoosnipe@comcast.net to keep me informed of this situation. I don't want our members to get stuck. He has repaired several of the members mpems in the forum for a year now, so I don't know what is going on.

That SUX....looked around for ya, try'n to find, his # is disconnected, his website, that goes to his "myspace" is deleted, best I came up with is....AllThingsCustom@hotmail.com

found him, he's now out of "Anaheim Hills, CA....http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Seadoo-MPEM-Repair-all-models-XP-GS-GSX-GSI-GTX-GTI_W0QQitemZ380066996926QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item380066996926&_trkparms=72%3A727|39%3A1|65%3A12|240%3A1318&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245
Don't know why, its show'n all that crap, but you can also "Yahoo" search mpem repair....

Thanks........

Thanks for the update timmy. I've put a hold on his buy/sell/trade section of the forum until we know what his status is. If you are near him or have some type contact with him, please tell him to write me here in the forum or at Seadoosnipe@comcast.net.

Yes that is his email address that I contacted him at originally, and yes Anaheim Hills is the address he gave me to send the unit to. Here is the USPS confimation that it was delivered 'Your item was delivered at 11:46 AM on October 6, 2008 in ANAHEIM, CA 92808'. Like I had stated previously, have tried to contact him by PM here, email and ebay. And again if its a busy time for him no problem, totally understand but just a reply is all I need. I',m worried that I'm going to be spending upward of $1K to replace. And I also did my research on the site with others that have had good experience with this service, that's why I went this direction!

Thanks again for the help.

All Things Custom.......

Alex, I understand your concern. Even a non working mpem is better than no mpem at all.

I've spoken with Mike on the phone on a few occasions. He's kinda like me. Works on PWC's out of his garage. He isn't some big player in the big shops, just a mechanic, making a couple dollars on the side.

I haven't heard from him in the forum for a while. He used to come in on his slower days and offer advice for those that had a problem.

I think you can give him the benefit of the doubt, that he will be in touch with you or you'll be getting you MPEM soon.

Because he's moved and the info in his avatar is no longer useful, I have suspended the service he offers in the buy sell and trade section. If you hear from him and when he sends your MPEM back, would you please tell him to contact me by PM, so that if he is still offering this service, we can update his contact information........Thanks:cheers:

Thanks for all of the help guys! And to Mike if you read this, I appologize for any insinuations! Seadoo Snipe informed me of the situation. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't out an MPEM.
