I have a 96 XP 800 that has a problem starting. The ski sat for about 2 years before i bought it and once i got home it wouldnt do anything then it sat again for about another 2 years and after jumping the battery and cleaning some termianls it fired right up and ran strong. Once i got the ski to the lake it was running great for about ten minutes when it dies and wont restart. After checking all the fuses i found that the 15 amp fuse in the back electrical box was blown and the 5 amp fuse in the front box was blown. Even after replacing both still nothing but a click coming from the DESS relay inside the front electrical box. Then the 5 amp fuse blows again. I have been researching on here about the problem and then changed the whole front electrical box which contains the mpem and DESS and rectifier and also changed the post for the key from a xp800 that is in 100% running condition. Still nothing but a click and then a blown fuse. Wondering if anyone has any other suggestions. I did get a new battery today and am going to try that but the old one was alright and even with the jump box on the battery still nothing.

re

If you read read your book, it says never "jump" the battery on your seadoo. You prob ruined the electical box and a new one is going to cost you

If you got really luck, you have a bad connect, another blown fuse, or simply a bad battery.

2 Years? you might want to clean the carbs too

after i jumped the battery i replaced the whole electrical box, computer and all from a working ski and tried it without jumping the battery. Plus its fine to jump the battery from another source as long as the vehicle isnt running.

barry......with a charged battery, disconnect the trim/vts system, then see if fuse pops. If so, then at the rectifier, unplug the yellow wires com'n from it, then install fuse, if pops, then unplug the red wire, if pops, then MPEM is bad. If thats the case, contact...ALLTHINGSCUSTOM...on this site...
