96 xp pump problems

i have just rebuilt my pump, new bearings,wear ring, washers, seals, impeller and impeller shaft. i put it all back together and when i start to get it tightened down the impeller freezes up. it wont spin. if i back off the impeller a turn or two it frees up. am i missing something???please help

Make sure all your splines on the drive shaft are lined up correctly...motor side and impeller side, might just be catching and pushing out on her. Hold counterweight/flywheel with one hand and turn the driveshaft with the other and insure that it slides in all the way, do the same with the impeller, might helf to have an extra set of hands for that one. G'luck.

it freezes up before i even put it back in the machine. i can not turn the impeller by hand if i tighten it down to specs.

hey..go under search, for pump..etc, Snipe/karl..mentioned about proper setup, something with bearing ( i believe) is set to far, caus'n it to freeze up...:cheers:

woke up this morning and went and messed with it. come to find out it was the washer and thrust bearing being pinched. all back together now ready for a test run. thanks for the help.
