96 XP Drive Shaft Removal

I need to change out the carbon ring and O rings from the drive shaft on my 96 XP. I have everything removed and the drive shaft is loose, but I am not sure how the remove the "Support Ring" from shaft so that I can get it out of the hull. This support ring is the flange (Part # 8 on attached drawing) that seats against the carbon ring. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
