OK, here's the story. I let a lets say overweight cousin ride my XP. It flipped he couldnt get back on andit filled with water. Towed it in put it on the trailer and got all the water out. Restarted and finished the day of riding. Got home and checked it out some more. Found the coils box filled with water, drained and cleaned everything. It started and ran fine. Parked it in the yard 2 weeks while I was at work, came home and would not start, turned ove no start. Changed plugs, trimmed tghe spark plug wires back, they looked bad. It started, ran for like 2 min and died. Now it will start and run 2 min and die. Aftrer it dies there is no sark. Took the plugs out and spun it over with the plugs in the wires and it is firing for a few min then quits... I am lost. The coil was corroded a bit, I cleaned the corrosion and cleaned with electra clean, same thing. Is the coil bad or is there somthing else it could be? Thanks for any help.

Make sure the ground for the coil is clean and a good connection. Also give the connectors from the stator to the coil are the same. Let me know if this helps. It might have been a good idea to spray everything down with wd-40 after the spill, to displace all the water in the electrical.

had that same problem 100 times bad coil they are notorious. it filled with water, there was a little crack, the coil got wet and boom. done.

you may check the stator. if the water was in the hull, the cover or the starter could have let water in around the stator and caused it to rust.
