96` XP and 97` GTI

OK my brother has a 96 XP. We were at the lake today and his Battery came lose from the rubber strap. It died. Now it keeps blowing a fuse in the black box that the wires all go it to. (10 amp fuse) The one by the battery. We put another fuse in it. But they keep popping and the box behind the VTS is buzzing and smoking. Now for my ski. I have a 97 GTI at full throttle it will cut back on power. It just like I am dropping a few hundred RPM`s not much. Thanks for the help
