96 spx with no spark

any ideas on where to start; my 96 spx ran fine last year, put the battery in and no start. trouble shooting found no spark in the plugs. any ideas.

Follow the spark plug wires back from the head to the plastic box. That box should be checked for any blown fuses.

Also the ignition relay/coil may need to have the wire lugs removed and brushed clean for better electrical contact.

still no spark

Ok, I changed the fuse 5amp, checked for spark, worked great. Put it in the water and started right up. I drove it around for a min or two and then it suddenly shut off and would not re-start. Brought it back in and once again no spark. Fuses are good, contact on the coil looks clean. I am getting good voltage at the contact for the batteries-starter wires. Could the coil suddenly fail like that?

Cut the wires back quarter inch from boots, then giver try.
