96 Spx Vts

Hi, I picked up a 96 SPX with bad VTS - motor, housing...the works all shot. Does anyone know if any of the other models VTS are interchangable with mine. The 95 XP and 96 SPX share the same trim. I was wondering if any others would work (possibly newer, more reliable??).

Yes.....here are a list of some....

Yes, your model is interchangable with a couple other years......
P/N for the VTS motor is: 278000616
Used in the 1996 GSX, SPX, and the XP.
Used in the 1997 GS, GSI, GSX, SP, SPX, XP.
Used in the 98 GSX Limited, SPX, XP Limited.

BTW, that motor will run you in the range of $185 bucks brand new.:cheers:

Nope, sorry, the housing is specific to that year and model only.
P/N 278000509 and replacement cost for about $227.:ack:
