hi i have a 96 spx 720. it blew the 5 amp fuse in the mpem so i replaced it with another 5 amp. A week later the fuse blew again on a camping trip and i was forced to put in a 15 amp fuse (could have pulled it back but my dumb ass wanted to ride it some more!). After that smoke started coming out of the MPEM and it died. I have been looking on ebay but they all want $200 for a 13 year old module that is probably going to pop soon anyway. Does anyone know any other lower cost alternative? i dont mind spending some money if the product will last but i dont want to get stuck again. ive heard of some people doing repairs on these but im not sure if mine will be too far gone since it was smoking. thank you

I have a brand new MPEM for your 96 SPX that you can have for $200 plus shipping. The part number is: 278-001-134.

Mpem?....

With a new MPEM slightly over $400 bucks, it seems Chester is your best bet for a quick fix.

I would never throw money away to ebay for an electrical part. These guys might sale you something that works, then again, it might not. If it doesn't, then they'll tell you it worked when they tested it. Be very wary of Ebay.

Why do I say this.......? I"ve been screwed!:ack:

Oh, the diode on your 5 amp fuse used to step down the voltage to 5 amps was replacable. Now, with it smoking, I'd say it's totally shot!

Check your PM's......

Do you still have that MPEM? I really need one to get my ski back up, someone who had it before me put 15a & 30a fuses in it and messed up the fuse holders. I am hoping this will fix it.

Bought the ski like that, I wish they didnt do that but the fuse holder is all corroded up anyways. Just want to get this thing on the lake, I really dont like to work over other peoples work but it is almost done.
