i just bought a 96 SPI with the 580 motor and i havent even hit the water yet. I was wondering if it would be worth the time and money to go ahead and try and put a bigger motor in it or, if that would be to complicated for someone just getting into jetskis?

To make an attempt like you are talking would be fool hardy and at this time of
year to start it, I doubt that you would enjoy this summer. That is a great ski to
just be able to enjoy the gas sipping qualities and riding girls on. Skis are luxury
toys and to keep what you have, you need to learn the maintenance of the machine
and you can be very happy without the concerns that large engines have, not to
mention how deep into your pocket large will cost. I have seven skis and my best
times were my 580 that I keep in perfect condition just to let friends go for a ride.
I paid $60 for it, put $200 in it, and could sell it any time a hundred fold. Use this
experience as a stepping stone. You will be on the water, not at home.

38-40 on the average. Enough that if you fall into the water at top speed,
to sting your face, so Hope you don't . Fast enough to impress your passenger.
I hope you decided to acqaint to what you purchased and get many years out
of the ski. Touch, look, smell. Before you ride. Nice to hear from you. If ya ever get to Tampa Bay, Look me up !
