is it possible to upgrade the engines in a 96 speedster with out any major difficulties? what other seadoo engine will fit? possible to replace with the 4stroke engines of the new boats? different housing or impeller? any suggestions. 170hp just doesnt seem like enough...thanks all

By the time you make all the changes you could do as I did...sold my 1997 challenger and replaced it with a 200 speedster...310hp, 87 octane fuel, good on fuel and still pulls 58mph.

Engines.....

Seadoo was very careful in the manafacturer of these engines. The electrical systems are built in a way that if you take a 787 out, you put one back in. If you take a 951 out, you put one back in.

If you pursue the upgrade in the engine, be prepared to purchase the entire electrical package too. All switches, fuse boxes, mpem, ........everything.

Yah no thanks  cost enough just for the motors and parts.

What about putting super chargers on them whats the increase on speed if you can put one on?

My 200 speedster keeps up to the super charged version till about 52 MPH. Then the Super Charger just walks away... I'll keep my naturally aspirated version with 310 hp. and only 87 octane fuel. Lots better fuel economy too.
