96 seadoo temp sensor

I recently purchased a 96 gti and took it on the water two weeks ago for the first time. It seemed to run great but after about 30 minutes the temp light came on and buzzer wouldnt stop. Water was cycling out the pisser and engine was cool to touch. Should i replace the sensor or will it hurt to unhook it and run anyway

Sounds like your sender is bad, if the engine was cool. either check the sender, or replace it.

Thank you. I pulled the sensor and cleaned it because it had teflon tape on it which i read interrupts it from grounding. If that doesnt help would anyone know where to find a replacement. I purchased one from defender but the threads were too big and 35 bucks for a used one on ebay seems a little high not knowing if they work. Any suggestions
