96 Seadoo Sportster Project

I was cleaning up my files today and found a bunch of photos of one of my seadoo jet boat projects I completed and sold. Here is where I started:

I bought the boat in rough shape with a engine that had a cracked cylinder exhaust port due to water freezing in it. Luckily I had cylinders and only had to buy pistons and a gasket set.


As soon as I got the engine running it was to the upholstery. All fabric and foam was purchased through rochfordsupply. To fix the seat I cut out the old foam and glued the new in with spray adhesive.


Then the vinyl was stretched on in one piece:


I ran out of red fabric and in the mean time my hydroturf arrived:

The back rest was a little more work and didn't come out as good, but it is still way better looking than before. I also threw in a kenwood sound system:

Great job with the upholstery! What kind of foam did you use? I have the same type project ahead of me...

I bought the medium firm sheet foam from their site:

It matched the foam density almost perfectly.

Inside looks great! I just picked up a 96 speedster project I am starting this week. What kind of audio setup did you do? have any pictures?

The sound system actually changed a few times, once for myself, then I decided to sell it so I put in a cheaper Kenwood marine, and then again I needed that kenwood system for my other boat so I put a complete garbage one in it to sell it since the sound system doesn't raise retail value at all.

Currently in my 2004 4-tec sportster I have a kenwood KMR-700U head unit

Nice! thanks. Speaker location is about the same places I plan to put mine, maybe adding one more speaker next to the driver seat. Where did you put the sub, under the drivers console? Did you have to add another battery? thanks again

Sorry, I've been meaning to get this message up. Here is where I placed my sub and other speaker.

I did not add an additional battery and haven't had any issues with it draining. I think people are too concerned about that, but I do carry a spare with every time I go incase something happens.
