96 Seadoo GTX with non beep

Hello. Trying to startup my 96 Seadoo GTX that was winterized and stored in a heated garage for two winters without starting.

- Purchased and installed new battery that tests as charged.
- Cant get the key to beep or turn on the dash display at all
- polished the connections on the key and key, battery connections
- removed the negative ground that connects to the engine by the starter to posh this and reconnected.
- everything looks clean and dry
- all fusses look ok
- shorted the solenoid terminals and the engine turns over.

Any suggestions on what this could be / what we should test?

did you connect the smaller negative ground cable to the battery too? Coming from the electrical box. You may have forgotten to reconnect it and it can hide down in the hull

hello, yep the black wire from the electrical box has been connected to the battery negative. any other suggestions?

check the pins & plugs of the electrical connector at the top of the rear electrical box. Under rubber boot.

also check ground wires where screwed together, bottom of coil inside rear electric box

All the connections within the electrical connector at the top of the rear electrical box. Under rubber boot look good.

Here is a picture within the electrical box. is anyone able to confirm if all looks wired correctly?

ive confirmed that everything is good for the wiring independently... any other suggestions folks? thanks for all the input to date...

if no beeps the mpem isn't responding, check the dess post where you put the key on and clean it with a pencil eraser, do the same with the inside of the dess key. And, i have seen battery cables that LOOK good actually be bad as they corrode from the inside out. A cheap maintenance thing to do would be to replace pos and neg cables if they are original 21 year old ones and see what happens, also the engine ground cable at the bottom of the starter could be the culprit, replace it with a new 4 gauge one from the auto parts store and wouldn't surprise me if it fires up. And, NEVER jump a ski from a running vehicle of any kind, the mpem is sensitive to varying voltage and could blow. A portable jump pack is OK but would not use anything else
