Thanx in advance for anyone that might have some idea for me to try.

I have had a 96 sea doo xp for a few years now Let my family barrow for a day and they got some water in the engine compartment there was a melted plug near the nozzle which let water in replaced that plug but it sat all last year without even trying to run it. Dewinterized it a month ago and went to check spark dont have any.

No spark
Friend lent me his CDI from his xp didnt help
Battery has good connection including the small black wire to ground
Checked both electric boxes no water or corrosion in them
Put Ohm meter on the coil in the box near the battery it checked out fine
No fuses are blown

Wondering where I should go from here any help would be greatly appreciated

Did you replace ecm or the cdi? This is new to me so I am not very sure just throwing sugestions your way as I have noticed no one has replied. You have a pick up coil in the magneto housing allso. I did not see a cdi listed in your parts break down. I have been told that some are built into the coil. You realy need to have a manual and read in the troubleshooting section of the electrical so that you are not guessing so much. hope someone will have beter info soon.

thanx for the suggestion I do have the shop manual when I said cdi I was actually refering to the Dc-Cdi module its a sea doo xp with the 787 engine which I believe is often refered to as the 800

In the box where the coils are located are 2 black wires that connect to a black ground wire that connects the 2 coil wires to ground. Check the condition and connection of the ground. If isn't getting a good connection it won't have any spark. I have see this happen on that model a bunch of times.

Keepus posted on you progress.

Ok I checked the grounds on the primary coil they didnt look to bad but I figured it couldnt hurt so I took them loose and sanded them up to clean em off reattached all 4 grounds tightened em down while I was doing that I charged up the battery reinstalled battery and put the teather backon but didnt even get the 2 beeps that it was giving before I tried to clean up the grounds not sure what happen.

Double check the connection and the wire plugs to the coils...

I would also clean the Post on the safety lanyard. It needs to beep 2 times to let you know it is ready to start. Clean the post and cap with soapy water. Don't use any grease of lubricant on it as it needs a clean connection to make contact. Connect the lanyard to see if it is making a connection. 2 beeps and it's ready to fire up. Some times the beeper is bad. Feel it for a vibration as it just might not be beeping.

Keep us posted.

Ok got the 2 beeps back turned it over checking for spark still nothing
What would be the next step to try to remove the magneto housing or whatever and checkout the pickup coil for corrosion. ? If so how do I get them bottom 2 bolts on the housing do I have to remove the 3 engine mount bolts and lift it up some or something ? Thx again for any suggestions :)

Do I have to remove the engine mount bolts and lift up the motor slightly to get at the bottom 2 bolts on the magneto housing cover. I was told the next thing I should check is for corrosion on the trigger coil under that cover is that correct ?

It is a pain to get those bolts. You could do that to get them them. You could check the harness too, where the wires come up from the magneto.

What do you mean check them wires coming out of the housing I Know the plug is plugged in fully are u talking about checking them with a meter somehow ?

The same connection directly at the coils are the same at the harness end coming from the magneto.

ohh ok is there a spot I can hook a testlight or voltmeter or something back in the box near the battery then and crank motor over to see if the trigger coil is sending the fire signal or something ?

Never use a Test Light to check any electric components. "Bombardier Ignition Tester" Is required to test the following components;
trigger coil, ignition coils.

You would need a manual as there is too much information to re-print in the forum as well. Do you have a seadoo shop manual? If not here’s an idea for you. You could join as a "premium member". As a premium member you can down load a authentic seadoo manual from the seadoo manual library. In the library is a variety of manuals for almost all years and models. You can view as many as you like on line as a PDF file, or download it and print it for your personal and private use. There are operator manuals and repair manuals for you to do your own repairs on your seadoo. The repair manuals have everything from troubleshooting, repair procedures to winterizing. It contains wire diagrams torque specs and pictures for disassemble and assemble instructions. In the spec sheets it tells everything needed to maintain oil changes, spark plug gaps, carburetor rebuilds and impeller wear ring tolerances. Click on the "Seadoo Manuals" link at the top of the page for more details. If you need any help or get in a jam, we are always here to answer your questions too. Premium members get priority when it comes to getting quick detailed answers.

I have the manuals and such already but it shows using some adapter plugin or something for your test points I was hoping there was a spot you could hook up to without buying the adapter. Just curious why is it bad to use a test light someone suggested using a test light on the hot side of the primary coil to see if it was firing up to that point forget what post it was though I didnt bookmark it or anything. Happen to know roughly how much the sea doo ignition tester costs ?

I have no idea of the cost. If you use a test light and do an "oops" and reverse the current you will fry componets. If you do that on a multi meter it won't do anything, except indicate a over load. It happens and can be costly if you over load a system not ment for 12 volts.
