What is the difference between xp-s mineral oil for 2-stroke or Sea-Doo XP-S 2 Stroke Synthetic Oil. Which is better for use for the ski.

Like we keep saying "Don't Mix"!!!

WHen I first got my 96 XP running, I went to the dealer and asked what oil to run, and he sold me the xp-s Mineral so I ran it. After a while (a month or two) I noticed less oil consumption, and found that the mineral oil was NOT what was supposed to be used, and when mixed with the synthetic that was in there, it turned to jello.

That ended up being a VERY expensive gallon of mineral oil, and a lot of work to clean the entire oiling system out.

Stick with synthetics.

As far as "which is better?" the machine has a sticker on it telling you to use the synthetic.

I would assume that the synthetic is "better" for the machines that ask for it because they were engineered to run synthetic, and vice versa for machines that call for using mineral.

But it is OK to use the mineral if you clean out all the synthetic first. Not just run it out, but CLEAN it out of the lines. THen you can run mineral all you want, as long as you don't put synthetic in with it later.

Best bet is run what it says, and always run the same oil.

I run xps 2 syn and am thinking of switching to amsoil. Looks like about $10.00 per gallon cheaper than doo oil, according to the amsoil website. I have not even priced this out on parts stores or maybe even wally world yet :)

I found a guy that got a truck load of the seadoo old style bottles of xps 2 and is selling them at the old price. I got two gallons just the other day.

I have always ran amsoil both for my kx125 (the red stuff), 400ex and the doos. Never gave me any problems. I run the synthetic. Seems to me like a good oil and way cheaper.
