Good evening, decided to pull the leaky oil tank after work today, have it all removed, cleaned and two new bottom grommets installed, messy job! there is a larger top grommet that looks like it’s a vent? Has a hose going to it, other side of fitting just has a fitting, and also a wire, which I assume is for low oil level warning?
My concern is the top grommet now leaking, is it normal to spin freely? anybody have experience with this?
going to tackle the non operational fuel gauge tomorrow when I put everything back together.
thanks.

Going to replace oil lines and filter while I have everything open, what are correct sizes and material.
What is the process for bleading the oil pump on a 587 engine?

Top grommet should NOT spin. Uses the same part number as the bottom grommet, at least on my 96gtx. If it spins, the grommet is bad.

I could pull out the old one out with my pinky. Getting the new one in was a PITA.

Do replace it. Oil sloshing will leak around the top. Since replacing both bottom and top my sea Doo is starting to look clean inside the hull and no longer reeks of oil.

Wires are for the low oil sensor, as you said. Hole is for air to vent in to avoid a vacuum as the oil gets used.

What’s the trick to replacing the oil line going into case, under exhaust? Do I need to remove the exhaust to gain access?

Finally getting around to finishing this oil tank/lines restore, I’m replacing the small lines by carb, and installing tank and new lines, I removed banjo fitting to gain access to hose and replace, two questions:
1) is there a check valve on banjo fitting, if a blow into make sure it’s not clogged, it won’t go through?
2) when took off banjo fitting, one of the washers fell off, I was able to find it, so to confirm, there are two washers, one goes on each side of banjo?
Thanks, Mike

Cleaned up the banjo, I can get air out of banjo, from motor side, but not in, I’m going to assume it’s one way check valve going out?

Yes, it is a one way check valve.
Thank you Miki, appreciate it, just filling up my tank with the correct XPs etec, 2t.
I’m going to premix 40/1 in half tank while I make sure pump is primed and working correctly, is that the best way to go about it?

Yes, there is a bleed screw on the oil pump that needs to be opened to purge air out of the line.

Ran it for 5 minutes, have oil in big line, oil pulsing through small lines, smoking, should I pre mix and take it out on River, run it as is?

Yes, but I couldn’t get the screw to budge, didn’t want to break it, I put 40-1 oil in gas, ran it on river for a little, but there was a lot of crap floating, leaves, etc…the line is almost full, small air bubble. I’ll try screw again, if I can’t break it loose, and sit bubble doesn’t move, I’ll take hose off and let bleed out end

After putting in pre mix and running on River, for a few minutes, it’s now a small bubble by filter, on carb side, going to check after work.

Don't loose sleep over it. The bubble doesn't mean oil isn't flowing. Like most people on here I don't like to see any bubble either. :D

I have had the air bubble get stuck at the filter. The only way to get it out is to pull the hose off at the filter really quick. For some reason it gets air locked. Make sure you lay a bunch of paper towels down because there is no way to not spill some oil.
