Hello everyone. I just bought a 96 hx from a friend of mine. The ski sat for two years so I replaced all the fuel lines, cleaned the carbs, replaced the fuel filter with a inline filter, took it out and it still wants to bog down when given full throttle. I have read a lot of different comments on this matter, however I don't really know what else it could be as everyone points to the fuel system. The only thing left to replace would be the fuel switch on the side of the ski because it will only run on reserve line. A ski shop told me to replace that, or it could be a carb adjustment.
Can anyone please point me in the right direction. I would be very much great full.
Thank you

After all the stuff done to the boat and you DIDN'T replace the valve? Come now. It is super easy to change - or at least disassemble and clean yourself. Try all this TODAY and you might not need more parts. Photos from my 96 HX shown below to help you.

Pick off the center cap with a small screwdriver, remove the philips screw and pull the knob off. Then take a big crescent or adjustable wrench and undo the plastic nut holding the valve to the hull. Reach inside and pull the knob towards you. Take off the fuel hoses - LABEL them to make sure you put them back the right way later.

Then you can take carb cleaner and blow out the ports while changing the position of the knob from On to Reserve. You can disassemble the valve further like a water faucet valve as well. Installation is the reverse.

I had the same issue with my 96xp. It would bog down at 3/4 throttle with the fuel selector on. When I switch to reserve it would run fine. I changed the fuel lines, cleaned the carb filters along with the inline filter and I cleaned out the fuel selector and still had the issue. I just had the ski out this week and it ran the entire week without an issue with the selector on. The only other area that I was going to look at was in the pickup line inside the fuel tank. It seemed to have worked itself out for now so I am going to leave it alone.
