my friend has a 96 3 person seadoo for sale to me for $200, there are too problems with it that i need some advice on how to fix it before i give him the money. the first problem is that it wont shift out of drive, i looked at the cable and it seems rusted and wont move and it looks like an easy fix, any ideas how much a new cable costs?

Problem number 2: the current owner says that when he guns it it wont accelerate and that its similar to when the clutch in a car is slipping and wont move. Now i dont know anything about seadoos and how the drive train works but i was wondering if anyone here has any ideas of what this problem is and what it takes to fix. The owner also said that he just has to take his time to get it up to speed to prevent the slipping.

I am pretty handy with cars and small engines so i think i can fix most things but i just have no idea what the problem here is.

My guess is that it would be less than $300 to fix it . If you are not intrested I would be willing to give you $ 400.00 site unseen as long as it is as you described.

im gunna get it and mess aroung with it for about a month and if i dont have time for it due to the fact that im in college and have 2 jobs and about an hour of free time then i would have no problem selling it for $400, any idea what the problem is tho?

It could be wear ring need to measure the clearence and look at the condition of the impeller. From what I understand that on the 3 seaters and small boat they are more likely to develop a leak betwean the pump and the hull from the extra weight that they can haul 3 people or tubing. from what I read it is the most probable cause and the least exspensive to fix and is very easy if you have never done one you could probbly do the job in less than 2 hours.

feeler gauge thats long enough to get between blade and wear ring, or eye-ball it. No more than 1mm gap..
