96 GTX Tach

I have a question about a tachomoter from a 96 GTX.

Will it fit in the extra opening in the dash on my 97 GTi? Also does it have the electrical connections for the tach? I would like to have a tach on my ski and I have a good deal on it if it will work.

It should physically fit in the blankoff.

Here is a photo of the wiring connectors under the front decklid of a 1996 GTX that may help you plan on installing the tach. I'm not exactly sure what else is needed.

Does anyone know if a 97 GTi has the eletrical connectors inside the ski to hook up a tach? From a96 GTX Donor.

Did any 97 Gti's come with a tach? If so where would it hook up to. I see no other connectors under the front cover area.

I haven't looked at the Electronic box yet, don't know if there a correct connector there or not.

Someone please let me know if it can be done.

The harness may need to be replaced since the GTI harness may not have the extra plug that the GTX one does for the tach or other accessories.
