96 GTX Electrical

I recently bought a 96 GTX that was dead. When you would put the DESS key on it nothing would happen. I found that a 5amp fuse in the front computer under the hood was blown. After replacing that I found that the ground wire from the battery to the rear computer that is next to the battery was burnt and another black wire from the gray module to the ground lug in the box was also toast. I replaced both wires and now when I put the key on it the display comes up with 12V DESC and I can hear the starter engage but it does not turn. Could it be a week battery or something totally different?. I tried the batttery of my ATV and it does the samething it's just a little smaller battery

I went back thru the wiring a 2nd time and found the ground wire from the battery to the black box had come loose. I replaced the wire and made sure the connections are tight and now when I connect the dess key it beeps twice. I am going to replace the battery and see what happens
