The propblem started with it backfiring and not running. I replaced the battery with a new one, replaced the plugs, trimmed plug wires, took it to the water and got it started. It ran rough at first but as it warmed up ran smooth. Then it would go crazy my guages started jumping and it would cut out real bad then die, That happend 5-6 times then I started being real easy on the throttle for a minute then it ran great. I could run it wide open and no problems, it ran like new for about 20 minutes.Turned it off to eat, got back on to pull the tube and it started right up. trying to take off with the tube it dies, does it like 3 times and then the battery is completely dead all of the suddden. I checked all connections and they are good. It is a 2nd brand new battery. What can cause this????

Check for any signs of water infiltration to your ignition box (grey or black box your spark plug wires run to).

The relay in there might be getting tempermental.

Also, another possibility is the lanyard post. Vibration, multiple on/offs could result in an intermittent connection there.

Disconnect all connectors, checking for pin contacts or corrosion and reconnect.

Beyond that, you might have to check the magneto assembly - a slightly more advanced bit of work. This would be best attacked with manuals that you can download as a Premium Member.

I hope you located the diagnostic section on the charging system. If you still need a little help give us a shout.
