96 GTI top speed???

hey all, speedo doesn't work, and I have alot of people ask me how fast they will go. I have a bass boat with a 100 horse Evinrude and it will top out around 42 MPH

I've thrown my GPS in our 96 GTI and it registered 47.4. This was after replacement of the wear ring. That added about 6 MPH.

That sounds about right. The speedometer of mine shows about 52-53 but due to the inaccuracy of the speedometer, 47 sounds about right. And that's on smooth water, little or no wind.

I got mine up to 42MPH with two 120lb+ people on it! On a lake with smooth water.

Nice right?!

You've got the same ski's that I do. You need to switch with your GF.

If everything is perfect... 49~50 mph. SO... a few hours on the engine, and a few nicks in the impeller... 47 would be just about right.

I drove her ski a few times already and man it feels crazy fast compared to the GTI, what a rush.

Only problem is, I have some issues with my lower back and her ski made my back hurt more. The GTI is like a Cadillac on the water, and the XP is like a street bike.

I know exactly what you mean. I've often compared the two ski's as a Buick and a Corvette. You can ride the GTI all day, the XP a couple of hours and I've had it.
