96 GTI No spark

Hi all I need some help I have a 97 GTI that all the sudden died today while in water it cranks fine but has no spark. I tested the trigger wire to the coil and while cranking it has a signal. Does that meen my DESS is functioning ? I think its the CDI/Coil the part # is 278000586 which has a built in CDI. I have great pulse and good ground but no spark out.

Any ideas

hey...try cut'n wires plug wires back 1/4in, see if spark, then check all connects, gorunds, condition of cables/wires. If need coil, have perfect used one, dump it to yah, also brand new igniting and charging coils for stator if need be....:cheers:also check fuses..

Already Cut back wires

Thanks I already cut back the wires and cleaned every conection in box tested grounds and continuity in every plug. What ya asking for the coil ? is it Part # 278000586 thats the one needed for this Ski.
