Hello everyone I'm new to the PWC's. I just bought mine 3 days ago and I've taken it out twice now. Both times I've had to be towed in.

The first time my starter came off some how. I got that fixed yesterday and then today I was riding for about an hour and wanted to get off and swim. When I got back on I tried to start it and it flashed 12v low at me, it did this the first day but it still started. Now I put the key on and it does'nt beep and nothing comes on. Is it just the battery? The guy said it was a new battery. Also when I stop in the water for a little bit for a rest Its hard to start back up. I have to keep pushing the start button and give it gas. Is this normal? Would a new battery fix this? Whats a good battery to use? Is yamalube oil good to use?

Thanks everyone

Welcome to the seadoo forum 96GSXboy. I would check all the wireing connectors to be sure everything is clean and tight and getting a good connection. The battery must have a good connection or it will do just like you said it is doing. Here is the specs from seadoo on oil usage.
You must make sure the oil you use is exactly as specified below.

Use High quality low ASH API TC Injector oil.
Do Not use NMMA TC-W, TC-W2 or TC-W3 outboard motor oils or other ash less type 2 cycle oil. Avoid mixing different brands of API TC oil as resulting chemical reaction will cause severe engine damage. Never mix Mineral or synthetics oil together.

Get the electrical problem sorted out first and if your still having problems give us a shout back. Keep us posted.

I looked at all the wires (to my little knowledge of jet skis) going to the battery and kinda moved them around to make sure they were on good. every thing looked ok to me so I put the key on and nothing still. Radioshack said they can do some kind of battery check for $17. Should I do that?

Take the battery to Auto Zone. They load test the battery for free. any automotive supply type store will load test it for free.

Thank you, I took it to them arond 5 and they said I could pick it up in the morning. This site is great.

I got the battery back today and they said it was fully charged. I hooked it back up the gauges came on but no two beeps and the 12v low thing still blinked at me. So I tried to start it up and nothing. It just makes a click. The motor wont even turn over. This really sucks that every time I take this ski out some thing goes wrong.

Hey....take plug caps off and ground them(orange thing on top of mag), remove the spark plugs, then follow batt lead to electric box. Open it up and using a screwdriver/thick gauge wire, where lead ens, thats your solenoid, you'll see two post on it, connect them, using either of those items, and see what happens...if she spins, solenoid's bad....repost

The 12 volt indicator is coming on because you have a bad connection somewhere. If your not getting a good connection it will never start. Start at the battery and check the wires to the ground at the engine...near the starter. then check it going into the MPEM,(Multi Purpose Electronic Module)box. open it up and check to be sure all is clean and tight. I bet that solves you problem. Keep us posted.

some how the battery is dead again. I took it to a local shop because I dont want to mess any thing up even more. They did a quick check on alot of the wires and grounds to make sure every thing is tight and they opened the MPEM box to make sure every thing was ok. Put the key in and still nothing. So I had to leave it there. I already want to sell this thing once this is fixed and get a newer one. What do you guys think?

I'm thinking that after the problem is solved it should be ok. I still think it is a bad wire connection somewhere.

Thanks man I really hope thats all it is. The seadoo is a blast when it's working. Its my first ski that I have owned so thats why I'm pretty mad about all this stuff messing up 3 days after I buy it.

Been there done that...we will help you get it going. There isn't anything out there we can't solve. Keep us posted on the problem. Do you have a seadoo manual? You might consider becoming a "Premium Member" if only to get the manual you need, for a month.($10.95) I bought a paper back manual from my local seadoo dealer for my 2008, Speedster, and it cost me $85.00( the seadoo forum didn't have that new a manual yet). As a premium member you can down load a authentic seadoo manual from the seadoo manual library. In the library is a variety of manuals for almost all years and models. You can view as many as you like on line as a PDF file, or download it and print it for your personal and privet use. There are operator manuals and repair manuals for you to do your own repairs on your seadoo. The repair manuals have everything from troubleshooting, repair procedures to winterizing. It contains wire diagrams torque specs and pictures for disassemble and assemble instructions. In the spec sheets it tells everything needed to maintain oil changes, spark plug gaps, carburetor rebuilds and impeller wear ring tolerances. Click on the "Seadoo Manuals" link at the top of the page for more details. If you need any help or get in a jam, we are always here to answer your questions too. yes. and/or print it out. take the ground wire off the motor and sand it clean and the engine where it bolts on. same with all the other large wires. you won't see the problem until you remove the wire. sometimes you won't see it at all. you will just fix it by cleaning all the contacts.

So now the guy thats working on the ski put a used starter on and the stater burned it out. So he is telling me that I need to buy a new stater $340 $180 labor plus a used starter for $100 plus the labor for that =$808.!!!! Why the hell did I want a jet ski.

Aside from your starter woes, there are other areas to check - if not to solve this problem, at least prevent future ones.

Open the ignition box - the one the spark plug wires run to. If it has water or moisture, clean it all out. Brighten the terminals of all electrical connections, coil, relay with a brass bristle brush. Then coat with electrical grease.

That little box can hold almost a liter of water - and it will prevent the gauges from turning on and the ignition turning over.

I dont know why I was typing stater lol its stator, right? Sorry about that, I was a little mad after I got the news:(.

Well on the bright side I bought a used stator last night for $150 shipped, so that brings the total down a little. Thank you for your input, I need all I can get. Is there any other issues I should get them to fix/clean to make sure nothing else goes wrong while its there?

I really would like to keep this ski because I have almost put a grand into it, and I know I couldn't turn around and get my money out of it by selling the thing.

I got my ski back yesterday so I went to the lake to test it out. It ran great with no problems. I took it out again today but today wasn't as good. I was letting it warm up in the water before running it. When I get on the throttle it wouldn't get above 3200 rmp. I just held the throttle down for a little bit then it started to go. It did this a few times today even after it was fully warmed up. I read another post that was talking about this and the guy added seafoam. Should I do this? Where should I put in at?

add to the gas tank...only thing is, might just be a temporarily fix. Rip thru the fuelsystem, filter, carbs, selector valve...

Should I add it to the gas tank right before I start it in the water? What kind of gas should I run in my ski? I put shell 93 in it the day I got it back then today I put 87 in it.

I added the seafoam today and it fixed that problem. But there is one more thing that I hate. It takes forever to start after I turn the ski off in the water, And after it does start it takes a little bit to get up and go. Its almost like there is water all in the engine and its trying to push it out. Is there a way to fix this? New plugs maybe?
