hi, first here but not exactly new to skis.

I have a 96 gsx and ran perfectly last year (i acquired it then) around april i was getting ready for the water and (stupidly) charged the battery while it was in the ski. I ended up blowing the coil up.

I put in the new coil and everything. but wont start.

the gauges light up, beeper beeps, so that leads me to believe that the mpem is fine. all fuses are good, front and back.

i have the back black box pulled out but still connected to try and figure out the problem. when i hit the key, the coil or solenoid nocks as if not getting enought juice.

now i just took the battery off the charger so, is my solenoid or somethin else bad, or does my battery just not have enought juice.

lastly, the (lone) wire that comes out the top of the back elec. box, does it go to the posotive or neg battery post?

sorry for the long post, but figured the more detailed the better answer i'd get

If the battery is low it won't start. Have it load tested to see if it has enough power. The wire from the black box shoul be the positive+ wire to the battery. Open the box up to be sure. Inside should be a solenoid that has a wire to the battery and on the other side of the solenoid it goes to the starter. The ground- from the battery goes to the engine by the starter. Get full battery power and let us know how it works out. If you still have a problem, let us know and we'll get you on the right track.

ok, sorry i didnt make it more clear. the wire i'm talking about comes out from the top (the pluggin) and is a black wire that does something, i'm thinking ground (but not sure)

i ahve the red to starter-solenoid-battery part right.

p.s.

the wire i am talking about comes out the plug. the plug plugs into the top of the elec box. out of that plug comes 3 (ithink) different sets of wires, with the one i'm talking about being by itself. a pevious owner has crimped a new wore and terminal on the end, and it was hooked up to one side of the battery, i just didn't remember like i usually do.

jgc, The black wire coming from the top goes to the - side of your battery. I know that on mine it isn't even long enough to reach the + side. Also, having the same cranking issues as you with mine (96 GSX) I am going to try a new battery and see. Under load my battery is only shooting out 10 volts. I let you know if it works for me. Good luck!!
