96 GSX air baffle question

I just picked up a used 96 gsx and after a little looking around I realized it is missing the air baffle that sets in the hull under the seat. From the pictures I see it appears to be just a silencer type device.Will it give me problems not running it or will it just be a little louder?
Thanks. Also, what a great forum this is with so many knowledgable members. After about 5 minutes of reading I changed out the gray fuel lines,cleaned carbs (lots of green goo) and rebuilt my fuel sender.

I always thought it was just for noise. All it is a plastic tube with some foam in the center. I wouldnt worry to much about it unless the noise bothers you.
