97 Challenger starting issue

Hi Guys,
Just got my newly rebuilt engine back and in boat. Tried to start it on hose and soapy water wash on impeller last weekend. It turned over fine for three 5 sec attempts then on forth attempt it fired for a few secs and stalled then the starter engaged but would not turn engine over. The double beep upon placing key on post sounded much weaker so I figured dead battery. charged over night then it still had weak beep but turned over again the next day for 5 secs then starter would not turn it over again charged it again, still a weak double beep, starter engages but won't spin engine. brought battery home from camp and had it checked at Autozone and it was fully charged and in great condition for cranking volts and amps.
Any ideas where to start, this was done by a very reputable SeaDoo engine rebuild specialist so I am ruling out any problems there. I'm thinking a bad ground or something but I did clean and use dielectric grease on everything when I put it back in the boat.

battery MUST be fully chargedto turn over engine or it will stall while cranking. I wouldnt trust the parts place. I replace battery every year regardless as marine batteries are not the greatest anyway. I would use a new battery. Plus, did you try to start engine BEFORE turning on water? If not, you got water in engine and that explains why it stopped trying to crank

Ok new info, pulled plugs it turns over fine. Blowing "alot" of oil out of PTO cylinder! Just got this rebuild back from SES first time trying to fire it up since putting engine back in. Could I have screwed up somewhere or what?

I had a weak seal in the crank. it just made it smoke but the seadoo mechanic said eventually it would leak to the point that to start it I would have to take the plug out and blow out the oil. maybe when they rebuilt yours they didn't redo the seals on the crank?

If both cylinders fountained oil, I'd say tv assy seal, but just the one cylinder...ses has some explaining to do. From the threads here about them, think, I'll stick with Fullbore, or try the shop in bullhead

I wouldn't judge them on 5 his because I don't know if it's their fault for sure. I have yet to call them because of the holiday weekend.

I did turn the water on before starting it... which I have done in the past with no issues. If I did screw this up do you have any suggestions on how to rectify it? I don't have any experience with 2 strokes so I'm in a cloud.

U are supposed to start first so you have gas pressure forcing the water out the muffler instead of going into the engine. If you had water coming out instead of oil when you took out the plugs but it sounds like your engine didn't get water in it

Problem solved... no problem with rebuild! Was not getting any gas, airlock ed in line after fuel filter. It just loaded up with injection oil when turning it over. Primed line and it finally started, runs smooth for a Rotax
