newbie here,i have a 95 gts think it is 580 with a 44mm super bn carb.what are the settings on the high and low speed. the ski starts and runs great out of the water but as soon as i get to the lake little more than half throttle the engine hesitates and a little squealing from the engine takes place.I have 120 psi on both cylinders.dont know if that compression is too low or maybe my secondary jets are clogged? ANY INPUT WOULD BE APPRECIATED THANK YOU

Heres your specs brother......1995 GTS 587 270500204 BN-38 (SB) MAIN-147.5 PILOT-65 2.0n/s 21 - 37psi pop-off LOW- 1-1/4 HIGH- 0

You should replace spark plugs, put some sea foam in the gas tank to clean out fuel system and carbs. clean air filter, check wear ring, and imperler for wear or damage, If this does not help or make any diffreance then you will probably need to pull the carbs off and clean. Plus 120 psi is low but should not make any major diffrance, your top end speed may be compromized a bit.

compression....

Compression on a new or well maintained engine is about 150 psi.

If your below 100 psi, time for replacement or rebuild.

Most important thing about compression test isn't the pressure, it's the amont of difference between the two (3 on the 4-TEC's) cylinders. A 10 psi difference between the two cylinders isn't good. More than that, it's bad.

You should also do a "wet" test on the engine. Run it for a few minutes, then do the test again.
